This blog review is liable to change as time passes, but on first viewing I hated it, well to be honest I loved it in theory until the first tv spot then I hated it, When I saw they had the transformers acting having emotions etc etc, I thought Bay had jar jared it.
So once the film started I was quite excited about the cube and the Qatar scenes played out. Then bam Shia LaBeouf drops in, quirky, cool but not sure of him self, to tell you the truth I was relieved he was funny, then a trip to bays dark side, the line "what would jesus do", what .. Bay in all his moves drops odd moments in amongst the pigeons, I think just to check you watching.
OK this is where i get worried and we enter into Bay world, you have a great moment of comedy, the porsche gag was good well timed and the slighty dodgy mexican clown joke made me laught, The Scene at the lakes narrative position was needed but the guy n the tree... I have to tell you there is a subtext in bays films that is quite dark. There seems to be an irrelevance about the situation through out which on second viewing really works.
Aside form the product placement, oh, there is horrible obssesion with ebay. The obsession with stupid slomo cut aways that would make john woo wince.
The side characters are actually good, it's like a pantomine, bays films are i think the more we realize that we are no longer going to get the "close encounters"
worst line of the film 1: 50 years from now when your looking back at you life dont you what to say you had the guts to get in the car.
best line in the film2: parenst
did anyone think that bumblebee lubricating on john turr was a little strange.
THIS POST IS WORK IN PROGRESS
