The type of thing you never imagine could happen to you until you start receiving bills in the post for a phone you didn't buy.
We have recently been victims of ID fraud.
Fears over ID fraud have increased this year from affecting 21% to 41% of the population.
The most surprising part of this for me is that when I requested the accounts that have been falsely set up in our names be shut down I was told it could not be done. If we are trying to reduce ID fraud how come you can call a certain mobile network up and give date of birth, name and address and set up an account immediately?
Why don't we just open our doors to fraudsters, put the kettle on and have a nice cosy cup of tea with them?
There are not enough checks in place for sure...
