WALTZ WITH BASHIR: OUT NOW!

We were fortunate enough to catch this film at the London Film Festival a few weeks back. This animated adventure follows Israeli director Ari Folman on a quest to recollect the harrowing experiences he lived through as an Israeli solider in the 1982 Israel and Lebanon war. He also witnessed the massacres at Palestinian the refugee camps - Sabre and Shatilla. At the beginning of the film he has trouble remembering any of those events, and he sets off to ask others that lived through those times with him.

The film explores the notion of war and the psychological impact on all of those involved. True stories accompanied by haunting animation allows for the audience to be swept up into the story in a unique way. Folman's emotions could be depicted in a way which a live action documentary would not ever match. Is this the future of documentary?

In cinemas now!
